The Council has stated that Albania has fifteen conditions to fulfil prior to its first intergovernmental conference. The Commissioner responsible, Mr. Várhelyi, has now declared that all conditions are fulfilled. While I welcome Albania’s EU integration, the complete fulfilment is questionable.
Therefore, together with the EPP Group spokesman on Foreign Affairs Michael Gahler, I have submitted three questions to the Commission. The evaluation of the conditions needs clarification. Reiterates it’s the quality and dedication to reforms that determine the pace of accession.
