Is performance to have quality of life?

We arrived after the sunset yesterday. So, when the sun went up this morning I saw how beautiful it is here in Haugesund, Norway. I am here to do a lecture for the Norwegian Soccer Federation and soccer for people with intellectual disabilities.

Usually, when we talk about sports for people with intellectual disabilities, we always talk about the joy and happiness, the quality of life, that sports brings. But we almost never talk about performance and placing demands on the athletes like we do with other athletes. I believe that quality of life also can be to perform, but we need to value our performance individually and be prouder of what we achieve. Everyone of us can become better at what we do if we stop striving only to become the best. Of course, that include athletes with intellectual disabilities.
