In 1981 this was my first competition. I was 8 years old and competed in everything from wheelchair slalom to shooting. In sports I found my identity in doing something instead of what I couldn’t do. There I found my rolemodels in sports and in life. This is why competitions like these are so important. We all need to focus on what we can do and be inspired by those around us.
